Equinox thoughts..

Updated: Oct 15, 2022

What does equinox mean anyway and why is it important?

Equinox happens twice a year - when we enter spring and when we enter autumn. On this day the sun crosses the celestial equator meaning day and night are about the same length in hours..

So as nature, animals & the planet changes as the seasons change, so do we !!

In Chinese medicine the seasons play an integral role in our lives and health. When we live in correspondence to the natural cycle of the universe things may feel like they flow that little easier.

If you’re in the northern hemisphere you’ll be entering into Autumn. A time to start to slow down and reflect on the spring and summer months.

If you’re down here in the Southern Hemisphere you’ll be entering into spring. A season of play and more light.

In western culture we LOVE spring & summer. These seasons are light & fun & energetic - representing the Yang, the going, the doing.

Autumn & winter represent the time to rest and be still. They are cold, dark, and because of our need to MOVE 24/7 we often fill these months with doing, when naturally the world is telling us to rest.

No matter which season you’re entering - the equinox represents the balance between the light and the dark. Where you can explore both within you.

So use this day to journal or think on the below prompts:

🌻What learnings can I take from the last 6 months to bring into the next season?

🙅🏽‍♀️What has happened in the last 6 months that I don’t want to bring into the next season?

🤍Write a letter to yourself in 6 months time.

Happy Equinox, what’s your favourite season?? xx 🍁
